The information includes Lake Erie’s Western and Central Basin and its’ tributaries. Fishing opportunities abound on Lake Erie. The Division of Wildlife’s Lake Erie Fishing Guide lists access points (ramps and marinas) for those fishing out of their own boats. Charter boats are another great way to take advantage of Lake Erie fishing opportunities if you don’t own a larger boat or are unfamiliar with Lake Erie fishing. The Division of Wildlife does not recommend or promote specific charter guides, but some of the larger charter boat organizations are provided for your reference below. They can get you in touch with an individual licensed charter operator.

Lake Erie is a powerful force, don’t underestimate it! Always leave port with operational safety, navigational, and communications equipment. This means life jackets, flares, lights, compass and marine radio (even a cellular phone) in good working order. Know and obey the marine “rules of the road:” Link to ODNR-Watercraft. Don’t zoom full throttle into a pack of fishing boats; it can spook the fish.

And Central basin areas of. Ruggles Reef, Lorain, Cleveland, Euclid, Eastlake, Fairport, Geneva, Ashtabula, Conneaut; inshore early, offshore late. Now you need to locate a good source for accurate detailed information for these areas. A good fishing report web source will provide you with up to date current fishing report information, a link for the current weather conditions, Ohio’s fishing regulations and a source for fishing maps.
